Cast of Finding Bigfoot Called "Clowns"

An entertainment reporter for the Sydney Morning Herald doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of the cast from Animal Planet's hit television series "Finding Bigfoot". In a recent article, (it's actually just a glorified upcoming television program guide) the reporter from down under refers to Moneymaker and crew as "clowns". The article continues the trip down condescension lane with remarks about Cliff Barackman.

"Bigfoot hunter Cliff Barackman explains that back in the US: ''Wherever we see a large concentration of protein we find sasquatches.'' The glaring problem with this assertion is the fact that Cliff and his pals have never actually found a sasquatch."

Send in the Clowns

Ok, so you don't care for the show, or maybe you just aren't interested in the subject, but why all the bitterness? Is the object of the article to get people to NOT tune in to watch the show?

Leigh "That Guy" Hart
The article reminds me of the time New Zealander Leigh Hart infiltrated the Ohio Bigfoot Conference under the guise of being a serious television producer and reporter. After not only interviewing several individuals, but also taking part by speaking at the conference, Hart returned favor by writing an article in which he did his absolute best to ridicule the Bigfoot community and the conference itself.

Please don't misunderstand me. There are several very serious and respected researchers from Australia. Daniel Falconer from  New Zealand is a great guy, and adds nothing but positive things to the Bigfoot community. There are just instances when there seems to be some sort of uncalled for negativity directed at the American Bigfoot scene from abroad. Such as The Sydney Morning Herald television listing, err article.

While I understand it is most likely their attempt at humor, or "taking a piss" at us or whatever they call it, people need to understand that the United States as a whole has a "little sister" outlook on things. It's ok for us to attack, degrade, poke fun at, torture, etc. our "little sister" but nobody else better do it. Besides, we provide enough negativity from within. Now for the Pulitzer Prize level review of the show:

Finding Bigfoot, Animal Planet, 7.30pm

"The clowns from Finding Bigfoot are in Queensland, attaching a tracking device to a little grey kangaroo. Why? Because they think yowies eat roos. Bigfoot hunter Cliff Barackman explains that back in the US: ''Wherever we see a large concentration of protein we find sasquatches.'' The glaring problem with this assertion is the fact that Cliff and his pals have never actually found a sasquatch. Nevertheless, here they claim that they have succeeded in finding yowies, those elusive hairy hominids of Australian legend. Encouraged by locals who tell stories of yowies doing everything from attacking parked cars to killing goats and hanging them in trees, they head out into the bush to try to attract the creatures. This involves banging sticks together, cooking kangaroo meat and attempting to play a didgeridoo. When they eventually hear some unidentified noises they immediately jump to the conclusion that yowies made them."

Move over John Wayne Gacy.

*I'm not certain who wrote the article exactly. The column is attributed to James W Manning. Some of the individual articles seem to be signed by specific authors, while others do not. It appears that each section may be authored by a different person. If this is correct, the article would be attributed to Brad Newsome, and not James Manning. I just wanted to make that clear.

  2. Agreed - they are clowns. That show is a joke. I have friends from other countries who have tried to watch it but can't because it's just so ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with calling a clown a clown. Moneymaker has said some truly insane things (re: Bigfoot "facts") with no factual basis whatsoever. I think the reviewer just uses extreme comments for an extreme show. That's his job - to provide material people will read. I'm not clear why you think it's not OK for others to critique American TV.

    1. About the only real fact is that moneyfaker is so full of shit his breath stinks he undoubtedly cannot listen to himself and keep a straight face but lots of sociopaths can so no surprise there. But more then anything I still can't believe he convinces the other two that he's not just making shit up every week which is an astonishing feat in and of itself

  3. The producers/hosts are just getting what they deserve - someone outside of America giving a realistic opinion of our state of television. It's called Reality TV and it is all fake. The Producers know it, the hosts know it, the network knows it and the advertisers know it - every time they look at their bank accounts. And I watch every episode as well - it is also called entertainment TV - not educational TV.

  4. The term is "taking the piss", number one, not "taking a piss"; number two, it's a British term, dipshit. Number 3, the guy's right, the show's a joke, the cast are a joke and your being indignant about the truth of it is the biggest joke of all. Grow up.

  5. Yes it is a joke. Too bad one of the networks won't do a realistic bigfoot program. One where everytime someone farts it was bigfoot.

  6. Hey, for 25 years Matt Moneymaker has tracked the elusive beast with his main piece of evidence being the cast of an elk wallow. He says that over and over (25 years..) as if that makes him some sort of expert. As if he's the Bigfoot community's Yoda.

  7. If the clown shoe fits...

And, infiltrating a conference? Sounds familiar. Seems a dogged druggie "film maker" from the LA area did that to Thom Cantrell's Primal People dog and pony show and now this druggie has found the religion.

    What a funny world.

  9. The sad fact is, There are a lot of people that actually think that these "Clowns" are the ones to find Big foot. And they believe in the methods they use. Sad, fact is Americans with shows like these (Mountain Monster) are making us the laughing stock, OF THE WORLD!

  11. It's ashame how theory and opion become fact. Yes it's time for the producers to change it's format.Better audio for the people at home to hear what the crew actually hear at times.More input from Bobo and Cliff as what they would really like to do.One or two of them was ready to leave the show in the first season just because of some of the ridiculous things they do.Also the editing. Can't blame them for staying.Money is good and you get to see the country. If they want the ratings to stay,it's time to change.Daylight filming with back trail cams is one suggestion. There are many more.
