2012-Out with the Old, In with the New

2012 proved to be somewhat of an interesting year in the field of Bigfoot. In retrospect it seems most of the year was a waiting game. I for one took the year off to observe and organize my own thoughts, and found myself in the same "wait and see" position as many others. How quickly one can fall off the map, and how even more quickly someone can jump on it. The Bigfoot community found itself in headlines of the ever imposing public sector on several occasions this past year. Both gaining popularity and receiving ridicule at the same time. The Finding Bigfoot TV series became a modern day cult hit, Justin Smeja sticks to his guns, Melba Ketchum showed the world that veterinarians are real scientists too by cracking the Bigfoot DNA code, some really smart guys are building a blimp, and just when you thought it was over - the most clandestine group in Bigfoot has captured a live specimen.

Animal Planet's television series "Finding Bigfoot" has put field research…

Bigfoot DNA: Duck, Duck, Goose!

During the past decade that I've been involved in the world of Bigfootery, there's been a particular occurrence that I've never quite understood. For myself the simple facts and evidence found surrounding the mysterious being was enough for me. I never understood why people often times would take something real, and then muddy it by making it more sensational than it really was. Isn't the fact that you saw a Bigfoot enough? Why make your story out to be more than it really was by forcing your own spin on things? One of the many problems Bigfooters have always faced is keeping evidence and sightings firmly planted in facts, not conjecture, theory, or opinion. Just facts. It has been stated by many of us out there, including myself, let the evidence lead you, do not build evidence to support your own theory.

However, people are people. And the truth is the Bigfoot research field is mostly comprised of a hodgepodge group of individuals from all walks of life. Most of which…

The Real Bigfoot DNA

With a week behind it's sails, the premature news of the results of the DNA study conducted by Dr. Melba Ketchum of the elusive (and still at this moment) uncategorized species known as Bigfoot has had time to spread both far and wide. So far in fact that it has garnered the attention of the National News Media. Previous to this, the place for Bigfoot DNA has always been confined to last segment of various T.V. documentaries, resulting in findings that were generally known as "contaminated by humans." Now we're seeing headlines that would lead us to believe that perhaps those previous test results were misinterpreted. According to what we've heard so far, in regards to Dr. Ketchum's findings, is that human DNA in fact belongs there. Along with an unknown source on the father's side. Imagine that in today's society, even Bigfoot doesn't know who it's father is.

While there are those out there who would find this worthy of the 6 o'clock news,…
